Swan Lifeline is a registered charity devoted entirely to the care of sick and injured swans in the Thames Valley and surrounding areas.

Cindy Smulders from the charity joined the Rotary Club of Maidenhead to give an interesting and educational presentation on the lives of swans along the river Thames, and the challenges, difficulties and dangers they face. She also explained why their charity is always busy and needs constant financial support.

Swan Lifeline was founded in 1986 by a small group of people who had been involved with swan rescue and treatment for many years from a base in Windsor. It is now based in Eton.

Alain Roux is its patron and uses the image of a swan in his famous Michelin starred restaurant, the Waterside Inn.

The interesting and enjoyable talk was followed by the presentation of a cheque as a token of support to an invaluable charity.
