| On Monday 13th October, after more than 35 years, Maidenhead Rotary Club had their last evening meeting at Maidenhead Golf Club. Their guest speaker Peter Foxton, CEO of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society based in White Waltham, gave a presentation to the club highlighting the difficulties faced by sufferers of this debilitating condition and the importance of early diagnosis. Laura Lloyd, fundraiser of Starfish, also joined the Rotary club for the evening and was welcomed by the club. The club also celebrated the 90th birthday of one of Maidenhead Rotary Club’s popular members – quizmaster Barry Thorne. Flowers and a card signed by club members were presented to Barry by the president. A great evening was had by all and it was especially memorable as Rotary member Cliff Hillman, past president of the Rotary Club and also past captain of Maidenhead Golf Club, attended the evening meeting. |
