Having decided to stay in our present home rather than downsize, we filled in the swimming pool to make life easier and extensively redesigned the garden. Fortunately, the work was completed last year prior to Covid lockdown.
Part of the garden is north facing and because of this we always had evergreen shrubs. These were retained but the rest of the garden was redesigned by Tania Taylor of Your Lovely Garden. Her design layouts and planting boards will be available to view. The perennial planting has been designed to give us some colour throughout the year. Fanned fruit trees and wisteria cover the garden fencing.
We enjoy entertaining so decided to have increased patio areas. A large circle was laid out to take advantage of the shade of the garden and give us a cool area in the summer. We enjoy the sound of bubbling water from our natural rock water feature.
A smaller patio circle was constructed in the opposite corner of the garden, which we call our “gin and tonic corner” this receives sunshine late afternoon and, in the evening, we can migrate to this area.
During the construction we took the opportunity to install a water irrigation system and decorative lights throughout the garden.
Cream teas and a glass of Pimm’s will be available.
