The chance to find the perfect gift from an Aladdin's cave of vintage and pre-loved designer bags, belts, scarves and costume jewellery is being offered to discerning shoppers just in time for Christmas.

The Rotary Club of Maidenhead will be setting up its ‘Bag A Bargain’ stall outside WH Smith in the Nicholsons Centre, on Saturday, December 11, from 9am to 5pm.

The stock, all donated by Rotarians, family and friends, includes 150 bags, just as many scarves, a hundred belts and more than 400 pieces of costume jewellery, and will be on sale in aid of Rotary charities.

Organiser Yvonne Johnson-Mullin said: “Every kind of handbag is represented - from roomy shopping bags to elegant evening bags. Some are festive red, others in gold or silver and, of course, forever-sophisticated black.

“Among them are designers like DKNY, Bally, Patrick Cox, Michael Kors, YSL and Aquascutum. Queen of the lot is a vintage Coco Chanel.”

A real gem is an old Lulu Guinness necklace in its original box. A number of pretty necklaces with semi-precious stones are also up for grabs, plus a vast array of bangles, earrings, bracelets, brooches and cufflinks.

There are also belts galore for women and men, warm mittens, leather gloves, Laura Ashley hats, and wool scarves as well as beautiful silk ones.

Yvonne added: “It really is an Aladdin's cave of goodies with something for everyone who believes in reducing waste, recycling, reusing and renewing their wardrobe while helping Rotary to assist with local projects.”
