The band was booked through the Blue Yonder website, the venue was confirmed at Tippett's Hall, St Piran's School, Gringer Hill, Maidenhead, and the hog roast by The Italian Hogfathers was also pencilled in. After spending quite a bit of money on essentials there was only one thing left to do - sell tickets! After quite a bit of worry on lack of numbers, we finally managed to break even on tickets and pay for all our outgoings, by hard selling, bribery and corruption! The evening of the event arrived. The band rocked up and got ready. Bunting was strung up, balloons were inflated, many bottles of vino, prosecco and kegs of beer were all set up in preparation. Everyone arrived and much dancing, laughing, eating, drinking and raffle ticket selling was to be had. This all helped to make a profit of £700, which was absolutely wonderful and will be a most useful contribution to our numerous charity causes. |
It just shows that perseverance, nerves of steel and a really good sense of humour are very much needed to be on this committee! The whole thing was a big team effort, and it would have been impossible without the support of our fellow Rotarians and for that we are extremely grateful.
