The family of a child with cancer in Maidenhead will enjoy a much needed respite care break thanks to a £150 donation to the Kids Cancer Charity from the Rotary Club of Maidenhead’s community committee.
Set up in 1989, the Kids Cancer Charity is a national charity which helps children with cancer and their families with support services including ‘stress-free’ breaks.
Community committee chairman Jim Howles said: “We always take a sympathetic look at requests for donations to support local families at times when support is needed and we are delighted to help such a worthwhile cause.”
Thanking the club for the donation, Kids Cancer Charity appeals officer Julian Canning said: “It is only through generosity like this that we are able to continue, and indeed enhance, the work of the charity to meet the ever increasing demands on its limited resources.
“Your kind donation will be used to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families, helping them through the unimaginable stress they live with day to day. With enough care and understanding it is possible to provide fun and laughter even in their difficult circumstances.”
