The week leading up to Christmas started with a bang on Monday when the club held its Christmas Evening meeting at Maidenhead Golf Club. This year there was a real party atmosphere and the 81 people present were in a festive mood. Many of our Rotary family (the widows of past club members) were present plus members from the Maidenhead Bridge club and from Maidenhead Rotaract. |
During the meal we were fully occupied with a quiz made up by our Secretary Mike Holness which was extremely brain teasing but nevertheless good fun. The Salvation Army Band arrived later in the evening to entertain us with a selection of carols and put us in the true spirit of Christmas. It was suggested that members and wives form two choirs and, unbelievably, there was an enthusiastic response! Everyone sang with great gusto - and mostly in tune....
Lastly, to end the evening, Peter Silverthorne announced the Christmas Foundation Draw which is very special as not only the usual prize of £50 is drawn, but a further two prizes of £100 and £200.
May we wish you very Happy Christmas and a peaceful 2017.
