On Friday morning 18th November at the unearthly hour of 6.30 am three intrepid members of the Rotary Club of Maidenhead - Peter Silverthorne, Tony Lodge and Peter Graham - left home to take part in the Pudsey Children In Need Collection at Heathrow Terminal 2. The collection, which involved many local Rotary clubs, had been organised by the Misbourne Matins Club of Chalfont St Giles.
Our collection slot started at 7.30 am and ended at 10.00 am, and we were still smiling! It was an interesting experience to be in the Arrivals Hall collecting from people who were flying in to the UK from all over the globe, hence the collection money was in some very different currencies. It is a very worthwhile cause which will benefit very many children and we were pleased and proud to help the Misbourne Matins Club in their endeavours, and wish them great success.
A message from the Rotary Club of Misbourne Matins reads:
"Everyone put in a huge effort and we are very grateful to the effort made by all. We think we raised over £42,000 but we won't know exactly for a few weeks until Travelex have counted all the foreign currency."
