Re:charge family day out
On Tuesday 19 July, President Amar for the Rotary Club of Maidenhead and Adam Fitt for Round Table each presented £1,000 cheques to Re:charge to fund their day out to an animal centre in Hampshire for 100 parents and children.  President Amar was supported by Community Chair Cliff Hillman  and Secretary Mike Holness, Adam Fitt by Round Table Treasurer Richard Alvey.

Re:charge works with families in the Maidenhead community, providing weekly drop-in sessions at three venues around Maidenhead, where families can feel safe, supported, valued and accepted and:
  • Come along to chill and chat, make friends and form new relationships
  • Benefit from support through challenging and sensitive times
  • Receive help with children’s feeding, toilet training, behaviour and care
  • Allow a child to play with other children and listen to story time
  • Come and share tea, coffee and cakes: it is open during the holidays
It is supported by a number of local industries and receives capital and revenue grants from the Baylis Trust; Spoore, Merry, Rixman; The Princes Trust; Berkshire Community Foundation; and RBWM, which make the basic operation self-funding.

The Day Out would not, however, have been possible to plan without the support given by Round Table and Rotary.  Hannah Lucas of Re:charge will come to a lunchtime meeting in October, to tell us about Re:charge and report on the Day Out.

This is a welcome first linking between Maidenhead Rotary Club and Maidenhead Round Table, the latter an organisation that has historically been an important source of future Rotarians, as they are required to move on when aged 40.  Their Treasurer, Richard Alvey said ‘I think it is great that we are doing this together; this sends a positive message for both organisations’.
