The Kids Day Out on Thursday 9th June was a great success, the weather was hot and sunny, and some 60 excited children and teachers set off from Riverside and from Larchfield schools for a day at Thorpe Park. The children stored their lunches in a marquee provided by the park and set out to enjoy themselves on some rides that looked frankly terrifying and involved being turned upside down a lot. Groups of excited children were having a great time. The most popular ride with everyone was Tidal Wave, which involved getting soaked, causing great glee. Certainly all of the children seemed to be damp when they got back on the coach! It was a good job that it was such a warm day. Both teachers and pupils said how much they had enjoyed the day. Ken Rowley (who has done a wonderful job of organising the KDO for some 12 years now) and Anne Matkin were on the coach to represent Rotary. |
