The presentation of a Paul Harris Fellowship is considered to be the highest honour that a Rotary Club can confer, and at the club meeting on Monday 21st May, it was awarded to Doctor Parvin Jandu who set up a Dental Clinic in a part of Kenya where there were no dental services. The recipient is a close friend of the club through his links with our President Gurdip.

The Makindu Dental Project was set up as a Dental Clinic to provide free dental services for the poor and disadvantaged who live and work around Makindu (a small town about 100 miles from Nairobi, Kenya) and has had life-changing consequences for many of them. His personal decision to provide these dental services for the local population was keenly supported by the Sikh Community and particularly the Makindu Sikh Temple management who have been stalwart supporters of the project since its inception in 2009.

Amazing work has been done by this clinic over the years and this has resulted in the establishment of a permanent Dental Clinic at the Makindu Hospital (Makindu Dental Project) every two weeks, treating its continually growing patient base for free!
