A team practice session was held on Friday 22nd July for the annual Pétanque Competition organised by the Rotary Club of Cookham and Bourne End, which will be held at The King's Head, Little Marlow on August 19th. Some improvisation was required as no-one had a jack at which to aim, but a small apple sufficed until a more visible golf ball was substituted! There was a barbecue at half-time, then play resumed until darkness fell. It remains to be seen whether their skills have improved….
This year there will only be one team from the Rotary Club of Maidenhead, but they will do their best to compete, and better last year's results. They certainly should get a prize for the best-dressed, as they have a team outfit of striped t-shirts, French berets and red neckerchiefs. Good luck!
