President Mary Spinks travelled to Germany to represent Maidenhead Rotary Club at the 60th anniversary celebrations of our twin club, Bonn Süd-Bad Godesberg. A gala dinner was held on Friday, November 4, in the Hotel Königshof in Bonn, where the club has met for the six decades since it was founded in October 1961. Celebrations included music provided by The Bonn Brass Ensemble and the publication of a commemorative book covering the 60 years of the club’s life by member Hermann Schäfer. Among the 125 guests were the presidents of the Rotary Clubs of Tivoli, in Italy, and Saint Cloud, in | France, which are also twinned with Maidenhead and Bonn. Together the four clubs form the Quadrilateral, which meets every year in rotation with the last gathering hosted by Maidenhead in May. President Mary said: “I was delighted to be invited to take part in the 60thanniversary celebrations of the Bonn club. It was a wonderful evening and a great privilege to be there. All four presidents from the twin clubs attended and it was lovely to meet up with old friends and new ones made during the Quadrilateral we hosted earlier this year. “Everyone is looking forward to the next Quadrilateral in Tivoli in May.” |
