The sun was shining on Sunday 2nd October when 457 walkers set out for the 13 mile Maidenhead Boundary Walk. The Maidenhead Mayor, Councillor Sayonara Luxton, her husband Mr Ian Luxton, Joy Arnott, Rotary District Governor and Maidenhead Rotary President Amar Bhogal led the walk to Maidenhead Bridge. The Rotary Club of Maidenhead has been organising this event for the past 35 years. |
There were 8 groups walking for their selected charities:
It was expected that total sponsorship raised would be approximately £10,434.00. The highest individual amount of sponsorship was Gurdip Bahra with £1,836.00 for the Makindu Dental Project in Kenya.
The event was considered most successful, with very positive feedback from the walkers, and the total number of charities supported was 57.
We must not forget all the organisational assistance given to our club that helps make the walk happen, with support coming from Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club, Rotaract, Sea Cadets and 18th Maidenhead Scouts.
