On Sunday 29th April the club invited over 50 senior citizens of the town to a Spring Tea Party, which was held in the St John's Ambulance Hall in York Road. Organised by the Community Service Committee, this annual event, which has been running for many years, is always very popular and much enjoyed by the guests. They are collected by club members and driven to the venue, and taken home afterwards.
The guests are given a sherry on arrival, followed by excellent entertainment from the Banjo Band, and a homemade tea of sandwiches and cakes to round off the afternoon.
The current Mayor and Mayoress John and Margaret Lennon attended and had tea with the guests, accompanied by the Club President, Gurdip Bahra. The Mayor then expressed his thanks to the Rotary Club not only for arranging the party but also for the good works that they continue to carry out throughout the year.
