Yesterday evening President Tony Lodge was delighted to award two club members the highest award in Rotary - the Paul Harris Fellowship.
Cliff has been in our club for 15 years and has served on both Fund-Raising and International Committees, but primarily on the Community Services Committee, which he will chair in the coming year. He supported Sir Nicholas Winton for at least 14 of those years, keeping in touch, transporting him when necessary, and ensuring that he was safe and comfortable in his family home as he became less able, until Nicky's death last year at the age of 106.
David has been a club member for 37 years and was President in the year 2000-2001. In his year the Art Exhibition raised more than £15,000 for club charities, and the club celebrated the 75th anniversary of its founding. He also worked closely with Nicky Winton on the Abbeyfield (Maidenhead) Society - for which he is currently Chairman. In 2012 he and his team finally brought to reality the 30 bed dementia care home that Nicky had been trying to get off the ground for several years, and Nicky was able to open Nicholas House, Burnham on the weekend of his 103rd birthday.
