On Friday 19 April Maidenhead Rotary Club held its annual wine quiz and wine tasting at Maidenhead Rugby Club, attended by 85 people (many for the first time).
The quiz was prepared by the sommelier from the Italian Continental Stores, who asked some truly unusual questions – all wine-related – while bottles of wine were sampled. This year we tasted four white wines, a rather delicious rosé and four reds.
A selection of cold meats and cheeses from the Italian Continental Stores was supplied by club member Rosario Sardo – with all breads being donated by Jungs Bakery.
The quiz was tied between Maidenhead 41 Club and The Graham Family.
A heads and tails competition was also held and, despite some dodgy questions, the eventual winner of the magnum of claret donated by the organiser was Pippa Egan.
The evening was a great success and more than £1,000 was raised for Rotary Charities.
